The above picture is of my mother being held by the African-American woman who help to raise her after her parents had both died. Before they died, the brought into the family this wonderful African American woman who did not know her name, where she was born or even her age. They named her "Alice."
This is her story, at least what I was told by my mother whom was being held by Alice in the above picture. My mother told me that Alice was always there for them, always considered the welfare of the children over herself, and continued to care for the family after my mothers parents had both died. This is what I know regarding Alice, and how the "choice" she made to care for my mom and her siblings changed the course of their lives. Thank you Alice!
